Step 1: Choose the Right Test

Start by visiting the official PTE website and clicking on the “Book a test” button. You’ll be asked two questions:

  • Where do you want to go?
  • What do you want to do there?

For example, if you’re planning to study in Australia, select those options. Based on your answers, PTE will recommend the most suitable test for your needs.

Step 2: Check Availability and Book

Next, click on “Check availability & book” to search for test dates and locations. Enter the city or area where you would like to take your test. You’ll see a list of test centers and available time slots. Select a date and time that works for you at least 24 hours in advance and click on “Book.”

Step 3: Create a myPTE Account

To complete your booking, you need a myPTE account. This account allows you to manage your test appointment and view your results.

When setting up your account, make sure all personal details match your passport exactly, including middle names. This is extremely important because your passport is the primary ID accepted at the test center. If your account details do not match your passport, you won’t be allowed to take the test, and you won’t get a refund.

If you don’t have a passport, check the PTE ID policy to see if another form of ID is accepted in your country.

Once your details are entered, click “Create account & continue booking.”

Step 4: Finalize Your Booking

You’ll be asked a few questions related to your test. Agree to the PTE policies, including their rules on admission, rescheduling, and cancellation.

Then proceed to payment. You can pay using American Express, Discover, MasterCard, or Visa. If you have a voucher or promotional code, you can enter it at this stage. Review your test details, make sure everything is correct, and click on “Submit Order.”

You’re all set! You’ll receive a confirmation email, and your appointment will also be listed in your myPTE account.

Rescheduling or Cancelling Your PTE Exam

Sometimes you may need to change your test date. Here’s how rescheduling and cancellation work:

Rescheduling Your Test

  • You can reschedule for free if you do it at least 14 full calendar days before your test.
  • You can reschedule up to six times for the same booking.
  • If your test is in less than 14 days, the reschedule option will no longer be available. You’ll have to cancel and book a new test, possibly incurring a fee.

Cancelling Your Test

  • If the cancellation is made 14 or more full calendar days before your test, you will receive a full refund.
  • Cancel between 13 and 8 full days before your test and get a 50% refund.
  • If the cancellation is made fewer than 7 days before your test, no refund is given.

All cancellations and rescheduling must be done through your myPTE account.

What Happens if Pearson Cancels or Reschedules?

Pearson has the right to cancel or reschedule a test or make changes to the number of test takers in a session. If this happens, they will offer you either a refund or the chance to rebook on another date or at a different location.

Special Cases: Illness or Family Emergency

If you can’t attend your test due to a medical issue or family emergency, Pearson may allow a free reschedule. To request this:

  1. Fill out the Request Emergency Reschedule form.
  2. Submit valid supporting documents.
  3. Submit your request at least 14 full calendar days before your test date.

Approval of these requests is not guaranteed and depends on the evidence you provide. Pearson may contact you for more information.
